The staff at Designer’s Denn Salon and Spa is dedicated to the ongoing support of several local organizations in order to build and support our community. We have a particular interest in our local charities that help women, children, and animals in need. Pets Come First Inc. – The New SPCA

Pets Come First, Inc. is strongly committed to the mission of facilitating the placement of stray and unwanted animals into loving homes. They are dedicated to ensuring responsible shelter management within our community, working together to eliminate the critical overpopulation of homeless, stray, and abused animals. Educating our community on the importance of spaying and neutering all animals will decrease the number of surrendered and unwanted animals to area shelters and rescue groups. They work in partnership with other rescues, local & state police, Humane Officers, and Dog Law Enforcement Officers to provide monetary and voluntary resources to support and sponsor local animal programs within our community. They will offer emergency placement, food, and medical services for the pets of approved and responsible low-income families and senior citizens.

Centre County PAWS – centrecountypaws.org

Centre County PAWS, Inc. is committed to placing homeless cats and dogs into loving forever homes and making a lifetime commitment to each of these companion animals; reducing companion animal overpopulation through spay/neuter programs and education; promoting responsible pet care through education and by example; acting as an advocate on behalf of companion animals; building, nurturing, and respecting the human?animal bond, and proactively seeking new approaches in the effort to end the suffering of companion animals in our society caused by cruelty, neglect, or human apathy.

Centre Wildlife Care – wildaboutanimals.net

Centre Wildlife Care (CWC) is a 501c3, nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for orphaned, injured, sick and displaced wild animals for the purpose of releasing them back into the wild. CWC is run on a volunteer basis and funded solely by donations. Educational programs are also available for classrooms and interested groups.

Women’s Resource Center – ccwrc.org

The Centre County Women’s Resource Center (CCWRC) provides free and confidential services for people who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual violence, and stalking. Counselor/advocates are available to help 24 hours a day.

Domestic and sexual violence happens to millions of people every year; from every religion, race, and economic class, in rural areas and cities, to people who are healthy, sick, or disabled, those with a college degree, and those in elementary school. Domestic and sexual violence affects someone you know!

Hope For Kids – hopeforkidsinc.org

Hope For Kids is dedicated to serving the most disadvantaged infants, children, and adolescents by providing specialized foster care services from a Christian worldview. We believe that serving as a foster parent is a ministry. You are ministering to God’s most special and needy children; those who have not been well cared for or loved unconditionally, those who are locked inside bodies which appear imperfect, and those who have suffered emotionally, physically, psychologically, and spiritually. As a Hope For Kids treatment foster parent you have the opportunity to expose children to God’s love as you model Christian behaviors and values in your home, take children to church and youth group activities, and pray for their healing.

Marine Toys for Tots Foundation – toysfortots.org

The mission of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U. S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas. This assistance includes supporting the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program by raising funds to provide toys to supplement the collections of local Toys for Tots campaigns, to provide promotional and support material and defray the costs of conducting annual Toys for Tots campaigns. Other Foundation support includes providing administrative, advisory, financial, logistic and promotional support to local Toys for Tots Coordinators; managing funds raised and monies donated based on the use of Toys for Tots name or logo; providing other support the Marine Corps, as a federal agency, cannot provide; and conducting public education and information programs about Toys for Tots that call the general public to action in support of this patriotic community action program.
